Young Executives

Our series continues with the skill that both keeps you sane and gets your team invested:  Delegation.  This session will both help participants generally as managers/coaches of teams, and help them identify the different approaches they might be unintentionally taking.  Directing a team member is different than Delegating to a team member, and while both might be necessary, knowing when and how to do one or the other is crucial to a well-functioning team (and leader)!  The session will also help enhance participants understanding of how Developing one's team is integral to becoming a better leader.

NOTE:  Attendance in all sessions of the Leadership Series is highly encouraged but in no way mandatory!  Each session is designed to both stand on its own, and easily integrate into the others.

The next session in our series focuses on a set of skills every good leader needs - giving and receiving feedback.  What helps you receive feedback well? The answer to this question can help you improve how you deliver feedback to people in your organization. Sheila Heen, author and researcher, describes feedback as: sitting at the intersection between “wanting to learn and grow” and “wanting to be appreciated for exactly who we are”. Sometimes we have strong reactions to feedback and they become barriers to accepting the feedback. In this workshop we will explore the three main barriers to receiving feedback and strategies for improving how we deliver feedback to get the results you were aiming for, and as a leader you will learn how to flip any feedback into a tool for growth and increased success.

The final session of the series touches on a skill that can often feel intimidating - giving good presentations.  Presentation skills are far more about preparation than perspiration, and this session will help you learn how to present your ideas in situations from site or office meetings to project pitches to formal presentations with no sweat!

By helping you to prepare for presenting by knowing your audience, building a presentation for them, and structuring the presentation in as seamless a manner as possible, this session will help you take the stress out of presenting.  Giving a good presentation, leading a discussion, and just speaking in front of a group are all skills you can learn, and this session will help you add and enhance the tools needed to do just that!
