In Person

We work hard to find experienced instructors with respected track records and local industry mentors to lead our courses to ensure all students are getting the most from their training. Small class sizes allow for discussion and each industry focused course is a chance to network with other members of the industry.

We are excited and pleased to bring our members a legal information session over a hot breakfast, from trusted Lawyer and Senior Associate Caroline Smith of McKercher LLP.  In her presentation, Caroline will take us through the steps of a construction lawsuit, from start to finish(es)!

What to Expect When You're Expecting (Litigation)

No (sane) person enjoys taking someone, or being taken to court.  But just like any other job, if you know what to expect and how to prepare, you can save time and money!  This presentation will outline the steps of litigation, how you and your company can best position yourselves for them, and offer tips on how to help your lawyer better help you.

The final session of the series touches on a skill that can often feel intimidating - giving good presentations.  Presentation skills are far more about preparation than perspiration, and this session will help you learn how to present your ideas in situations from site or office meetings to project pitches to formal presentations with no sweat!

By helping you to prepare for presenting by knowing your audience, building a presentation for them, and structuring the presentation in as seamless a manner as possible, this session will help you take the stress out of presenting.  Giving a good presentation, leading a discussion, and just speaking in front of a group are all skills you can learn, and this session will help you add and enhance the tools needed to do just that!

NOTE:  Attendance in all sessions of the Leadership Series is highly encouraged but in no way mandatory!  Each session is designed to both stand on its own, and easily integrate into the others.
